computerlab

At View Ridge, we have a computer lab with 32 Apple Mac computers, and students in grades K-5 visit the lab at least once per week.  In addition to our lab, we also have two mobile carts of laptops for classroom use and 30 iPads for classroom instruction in addition to the student computers available in each classroom so that technology is accessible to students throughout the school day!

Activities and lessons in the computer lab are designed to build students’ technology fluency and familiarity – by practicing skills such as keyboarding, word processing, and internet research, we can enhance our learning in the lab, in the classroom and in our world.

Keyboarding is a critical skill throughout the school year – Typing Agent is a program that helps students improve their keyboarding skills through fun and challenging activities.  Internet research skills are practiced in all grades; we learn how to be responsible, respectful and safe in public domains.  Work in the lab is often connected to projects and activities in the classrooms, especially when those projects involve research and word processing.  Fifth grade students use Schoology to communicate with their teacher and keep track of learning expectations.  One of our most exciting activities this year has been the Hour of Code, where every student in grades K-5 get the opportunity to experience kid-friendly activities that encourage familiarity with the world of computer programming.

Notice: For this 2021-2022 school year, we do not have Technology classes at this time.
