Student Activities Overview
Student Activities
Here at View Ridge we feel that student participation in various activities during the school day, as well as after, are vital to their growth and education. Here is a brief summary of what we provide:

During the School Day
View Ridge students are exposed to weekly instruction in Library Science, Music, Art, Technology, Physical Education for grades 1st – 5th and Movement class for kindergarteners. Throughout the school day you may find a 2nd grader creating their next big art project, a 4th grader gathering books for the Global Reading Challenge, a kindergartener exploring guided computer programs, a 3rd grader learning their musical chords or a 1st grader riding a bike for the first time. Out teachers and staff have set up a wonderful environment for our students to not only learn, but thrive.
Our 3rd graders at View Ridge take turns running the Lunchroom Compost Program. They don large rubber gloves and bright colored aprons to enforce the proper way to dispose of the student’s lunch garbage. It can be messy, but they love it!
The 5th graders also benefit from our Safety Patrol Program, and our 4th graders can sign up as Kindergarten Escorts. Their job is to pick up the kindergarten bus riders from their classrooms and escort them to their school bus at the end of the day. This activity teaches valuable responsibility and prepares them for the Safety Patrol Program the following year.
After the School Day
We offer many after school activities for students at View Ridge. The Music staff supports a choir made up of 3rd – 5th graders, and our PE teacher designs an athletic program with alternating themes and grade levels.
The View Ridge PTA makes up the rest of the after school student activities. These may include classes in foreign languages, such as Spanish, Japanese, and Mandarin. We offer beginning and advanced Chess, as well as Piano-Keyboard Club, Coding with Kids and Smart with Art. These are all fee-based programs, and these ‘PTA sponsored’ after school activities vary from year to year.
