Student Assignment
Address Lookup
New elementary, middle and high school students are initially assigned to a designated attendance area school based on where the student lives. Students who are moving up to middle or high school will be automatically assigned to their neighborhood school.
To view designated school assignments for elementary, middle and high school students using your current address, use the address lookup tool.
Assignment Lookup
Students may apply to attend a school other than their attendance area school through School Choice. Please refer to our School Choice page for additional information.
To view current and next year assignment information using the assignment lookup tool, you will need the student's identification number and birth date.
Student Assignment Plan
The Student Assignment Plan was approved by the Seattle Public Schools Board of Directors in 2009 to provide greater predictability for families while still offering opportunities for school choice. Annual Transition Plans guided a phased approach to implementation.
Superintendent's Procedures for Student Assignment
The Superintendent's Procedures for Student Assignment set forth the implementation of the policies established by the Board in the Student Assignment Plan and the most recent Transition Plan. These documents are the guides for Admissions and other district staff and must be viewed as integrated companions to fully understand student assignment in Seattle Public Schools.
